This chapter does not entirely follow the usual pattern of solutions informing subsequent puzzles. All the puzzles here are about placing the runes around the fire.
-
This clue from the voice on the wind can’t be used yet.
-
It can be used when you reach a clue that doesn’t directly help you place a rune.
-
Only after solving the other puzzles up to page (v) will the references to sparrows and barrows make sense. Time’s arrow refers to a clockwise direction.

-
This only requires logical thinking; the aim is to identify the smallest possible number of cargo hold spaces.
-
The hare cannot be left unattended with anything else.
-
With the hare constantly attended by Sister Stone, the only pairing that cannot be left unattended is the cat and the ropes.
-
If Sister Stone keeps the hare with her at all times (i.e. transporting it back and forth with her) and takes everything else one at a time (with the cat or ropes interchangeably first and last, and the herbs and books in between), then she can successfully transport everything across using the two-cargo-hold boat. The moon symbol indicates that the rune of the Native can be placed in the moon position.

Your previous solution provides the starting point. (When counting round trips, remember that Sister Stone must return after her deliveries.)
-
The end point is the anchor.
-
Two items will be passed on the way; these are associated with a symbol that helps to place a rune.
-
Sister Stone takes four round trips (delivering one item on the first three crossings and two on the final crossing before returning home); the two items passed are the stick and brush. The associated comet symbol indicates that the Beast rune can be placed in the comet position.

Only one of the four scenes should be focused on.
-
The prior solution provides guidance.
-
The two objects are mentioned in the relevant scene. Of the two symbols associated with the correct scene, one is for rune placement, one is for the next puzzle.
-
The stick and brush are mentioned in the first scene. The sun symbol indicates the Journey rune can be placed in the sun position. Note the repeated mention of sparrows.

-
The prior solution provides the correct starting point for this puzzle.
-
Use of the Fathomstone should be familiar. Each step points to the next.
-
To place the Sisterhood rune, the page (i) clue may now be useful; note where sparrows have been mentioned.
-
The diamond with a horizontal line corresponds to the second space in the sixth row. This provides S and a triangle with a dot. Following that (fifth column, third row) and continuing the process until the sequence points to itself creates the instruction SWITCH NATIVE AND BEAST, so now, Native = comet space, Beast = moon space. The clue on page (i) indicates that the rune related to the buried sister (the Sisterhood) can be placed two steps clockwise past the sparrow (rune of the Journey), i.e. the circle space.
Page (vi)
-
As Sister Lammas notes, if all prior clues have been followed, only one space remains for the rune of the Beyond.
-
If you’re unsure about placing the rune of the Sisterhood, consider the clue on page (i).
-
Only one coin accurately depicts the correct positions of all the runes.
-
The coin with the eye motif shows the correct rune positions.

-
The satchel components are essential here.
-
The prior solution indicates how to assemble the pieces, but not all pieces are used—some are red herrings.
-
The text, though distorted, will be oriented the right way up.
-
Assembling the pieces correctly will reveal the final answer WHO WHISPERS ON THE WIND.
